E-Learning (Electronic Learning is learning via Information & Communications Technology (ICT). As
computer-assisted instruction, the concept has been known for decades already. The more recent
term e-learning relates to new multimedia technologies and the availability of the Internet.
The interest in e-learning is growing, both in education and in training. E-Learning offers quite new
opportunities for distance education, customised curricula, personalised learning processes as well
as collaborative learning. It can improve the links between the learning process and the outside world,
implement new didactical models, and provide a richer learning environment. It may reduce travel and
subsistence costs and save a lot of time, both for learners and for trainers and teachers.
Sofos helps organisations to build their future with e-learning. At the strategical level it organises the
policy-making process and introduces key concepts and best practices. At the tactical level, it
secures the elaboration of an implementation plan in which organisational, educational, and
technological aspects are in balance. At the operational level, Sofos transfers its knowledge about
specific e-learning products by offering hands-on experience and training on the job.
